The Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of Chinese Academy of Science in Beijing is opening one Postdoc fellow position for the Generator and Fast Simulation studies toward the future Energy frontiers. This position is supposed to work 70% on the CEPC project (http://cepc.ihep.ac.cn) and 30% on the LHC(CMS) project. This appointment will be a period of two years. An evaluation will be performed at the end of this appointment, which may lead to an extension of another two year or a permanent position at IHEP.
The main objective of this position is to investigate the physics potential of a proton collider that reach 100 TeV center of mass energy. At this energy, proper modeling of the huge standard model background, the detector response and environment (high pile-up) are crucial for any realistic simulation.
A successful candidate should be able to master the usage of the up-to-date generator/fast simulation tools in short time. He/she should be able to carry on his own studies and supports relevant studies of others. He/she is also encouraged to investigate the relevant studies at LHC, both to the High luminosity upgrade (HL-LHC) and possible high energy upgrade.
A Ph.D degree in particle physics (either experimental or theoretical) is required. Experiences on the generator and fast simulation package (for example Madgraph and Delphes) are definitely plus. Experience on Geant 4 simulation, grid computing and software development are also appreciated.
