POST DOC ON PFA!!
The institute of high energy physics (IHEP) of Chinese Academy of Science in Beijing is opening two Postdoc fellow positions on the Particle Flow Algorithm (PFA) development and optimisation for the CMS and Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC).
The PFA, aka Particle Follow Algorithm or General Event Description, is a basic principle that try to follow every final state particle in a collider event and to reconstruct them in the most suited sub-detector systems. PFA is the key ingredient to fully use all the information recorded at the detector, providing the ultimate reconstruction/analysis capability. Nowadays, the PFA has not only became a well accepted principle in the energy frontier (CMS), but also becomes the trend for the future detector development (as for the international linear collider and the newly proposed CEPC).
The postdocs are supposed to work 50% on the CMS project and 50% on the CEPC project. This appointment will be for a period of two years with a possible extension for another two years.
The postdocs are expected to play key roles in the PFA development and optimisation based on the existing PFA algorithm tools as well as corresponding detector optimisation.
A Ph.D degree in experimental physics is required, experiences on reconstruction algorithm development, pattern recognition and data analysis is definitely a plus.
Experience on Geant 4 simulation, grid computing and software development are also appreciated.
The successful applicants will mainly be based at CERN but also part-timely working on IHEP (30%). IHEP is a national lab located close to the downtown Beijing, it is the premier high energy physics centre of China. IHEP host the BEPC collider in its campus and has over 1,400 employees with strong support in all aspects of experimental high-energy physics.
