The Fourth Annual Meeting of the International Advisory Committee on the Circular Electron Positron Collider was Held in IHEP (2018-11-17)


 

On Nov. 15th to 16th, the fourth annual meeting of the International Advisory Committee (IAC) on the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) was Held in IHEP. There are 14 international famous scientists, technical experts and management experts with experience of large scientific project invited to attend the meeting. They are mainly from United States, Switzerland, Italy, Britain, France, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei etc. The director of IHEP Yifang Wang, the director of CEPC Institutional Board Yuanning Gao, the manager of CEPC project Xinchou Lou, and the responsible people of the overall project and related systems, the executive committee members and researchers attended the meeting as well.

Young-kee Kim, the chair of CEPC IAC, professor at the University of Chicago and former deputy director of Fermi National Laboratory, chaired the meeting. CEPC project manager Xinchou Lou reported the overall progress of the project and the research team’s improvement in response to the recommendations made by the IAC in 2017. Jie Gao, Qingjin Xu, Joao Guimaraes da Costa and Manqi Ruan from IHEP respectively introduced the progress of the design and research of CEPC accelerator, "SppC" accelerator, CEPC detector and physics simulation. Yu Xiao from the Yellow River Engineering Consulting Co., LTD reported the CEPC site selection and civil engineering survey progress.

After the discussion, the experts from the IAC affirmed the progress and achievements of the team, appreciated the organization of the international review for CEPC accelerator and detector Conceptual Design Report (CDR), and congratulated the release of CEPC CDR. The experts gave the guidance and suggestions on the development scheme and direction of the technical design, and emphasized to enhance the international cooperation, strengthen the international participation, and search for more international and domestic support.
