Eleventh Annual Meeting of the CEPC International Advisory Committee Held (2025-11-27)

From November 20th to 21st, the Eleventh Annual Meeting of the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) International Advisory Committee (IAC) was held at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Academician Wang Yifang, Chairman of the CEPC Executive Committee, committee members, project leaders, and researchers attended the meeting.

Brian Foster, Chairman of the CEPC International Advisory Committee, Professor at the University of Oxford, and Lead Designer of the International Linear Collider (ILC) management scheme, presided over the meeting. Joao Guimaraes da Costa, CEPC Detector Convener, first introduced the content of the CEPC Reference Detector Technical Design Report (TDR) and R&D plans; Gao Jie, CEPC Accelerator Convener, introduced the progress of CEPC Accelerator Engineering Design (EDR); Lou Xinchou, CEPC Project Manager, provided an overview of the development and plans. The meeting also heard reports and recommendations from Professor Maria Enrica Biagini, Chair of the CEPC Accelerator International Advisory Committee (IARC) from INFN in Italy, and Professor Daniela Bortoletto, Chair of the Detector International Advisory Committee (IDRC) from the Department of Physics at the University of Oxford, respectively, on the conclusions and recommendations of the two international review groups. During the meeting, Researcher Ruan Manqi, Researcher Lu Wei, and Researcher Xu Qingjin from the Institute of High Energy Physics introduced the CEPC Physics White Paper, Plasma Wakefield Acceleration (PWFA), and progress in high-temperature superconducting magnets on behalf of the physics potential, plasma wakefield acceleration team, and superconducting magnet team, respectively. Throughout the meeting, the IAC members engaged in in-depth dialogue and exchanges with the CEPC project management and core team members.

The International Advisory Committee unanimously affirmed the achievements made by CEPC over the past year, including the completion of the overall technical design of the reference detector, accelerator engineering design, key technology R&D and prototype development, physics potential research, and detector and software technology R&D. They provided recommendations on CEPC's future plans, EDR progress, international cooperation, etc., highly praised the milestone achievements and progress made by CEPC in entering the EDR phase, and offered clear and important professional guidance on EDR design.

Seventeen internationally renowned scientists, technical experts, and experienced management experts in large scientific projects from Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, Japan, Germany, the United States, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Norway, China, and other countries, as well as from Hong Kong and Taiwan regions of China, were invited to participate in the meeting in person or online.
