CEPC Accelerator International Review Committee Meeting Held (2025-09-24)

From September 16th to 19th, the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) Accelerator International Review Committee (IARC) meeting was held at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Sixteen internationally renowned scientists and technical expert committee members from China, Switzerland, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, Russia, Sweden, and other countries attended the meeting. Academician Wang Yifang, Chairman of the CEPC Executive Committee, project leaders, accelerator leaders, and related system heads and researchers participated in the meeting.

Wang Yifang delivered a welcome speech, first thanking the CEPC Accelerator International Advisory Committee (IARC) for their consistent strong support and assistance to CEPC, and then outlining the objectives for this IARC international review meeting. Lou Xinchou, CEPC Project Manager, first provided an overview of the overall progress of the project in the Engineering Design Phase (EDR); Gao Jie, Vice Chairman of the CEPC Institutional Committee and Accelerator Leader, introduced the progress of the accelerator team in carrying out accelerator EDR research, site selection, civil engineering, and CEPC construction industrialization preparations according to the plan during the EDR phase; CEPC accelerator-related system heads reported on the research progress of each system and provided feedback on the recommendations for CEPC accelerators from the IARC 2024 meeting. During the meeting, the International Accelerator Review Committee engaged in in-depth dialogue and exchanges with CEPC accelerator researchers, highly evaluating the progress made by CEPC accelerators and providing suggestions and advice for future work.

This meeting is the second International Accelerator Review Committee meeting since CEPC completed the Accelerator Technical Design Report (TDR) in 2023 and entered the Engineering Design Phase (EDR) in January 2024. The committee unanimously affirmed the achievements of the CEPC accelerator team in the EDR phase, including accelerator physics design, key technology research and development, prototype development, industrialization preparation, team building, etc., and encouraged CEPC to further strengthen international cooperation and advance research closely related to site selection.

During the meeting, IARC committee members visited the under-construction plasma acceleration experimental facility and high-field superconducting magnet laboratory at the Institute of High Energy Physics.
