The 10th Annual Meeting of the CEPC International Advisory Committee Held (2024-11-04)

From October 29 to 30, the 10th Annual Meeting of the Circular Electron-Positron Collider (CEPC) International Advisory Committee (IAC) was held at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Academician Yifang Wang, Chairman of the CEPC Executive Committee, members of the Executive Committee, project leaders, and researchers from relevant systems attended the meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Professor Brian Foster from the University of Oxford, Chairman of the CEPC International Advisory Committee and design manager of the International Linear Collider (ILC) management plan. Researcher Xin-Chou Lou, CEPC Project Manager, first provided an overview of the project's overall progress and introduced the general situation of the international reviews for the accelerator Engineering Design Report (EDR) and detector Technical Design Report (TDR). Researcher Jie Gao, CEPC Accelerator Coordinator, presented the content, progress, and plans of the CEPC Accelerator EDR. Researcher Yuhui Li, Deputy Director of IHEP and CEPC Accelerator Coordinator, introduced the content and plans of CEPC accelerator R&D. Researcher Jianchun Wang, CEPC Detector Coordinator, presented the content and plans of the CEPC Detector TDR and related international cooperation.

The meeting also included online connections with the respective review committee chairs for the two stages of accelerator EDR and detector TDR: Professor Maria Enrica Biagini, Chair of the International Accelerator Review Committee (IARC) from INFN Italy, and Professor Daniela Bortoletto, Chair of the International Detector Review Committee (IDRC) from the University of Oxford's Department of Physics, to hear conclusions and recommendations from the two international review groups. During the meeting, Researcher Manqi Ruan and Researcher Weidong Li, representing the physics simulation and software teams respectively, introduced the progress of the CEPC Physics White Paper and software computing. Researcher Joao COSTA provided an introduction and outlook on the current overall international cooperation status of CEPC. Throughout the meeting, IAC members engaged in in-depth dialogue and exchanges with the CEPC project management.

The International Advisory Committee unanimously affirmed the achievements made by CEPC over the past year, including accelerator engineering design, key technology development and prototype development, physics research, and detector and software preliminary studies. The committee provided recommendations regarding the detector collaboration group, TDR progress, and international cooperation, highly recognizing the phased achievements and progress made by CEPC as it enters the EDR stage, and offered clear and important professional guidance for the EDR design.
